Speakers guidelines and suggestions
PAMIA is a local association of clinical/biomedical engineers, biomedical equipment technicians, directors/managers, salespeople and others involved with medical equipment from the Philadelphia area, as far as Allentown/Bethlehem, South & Central New Jersey, Lancaster County, and northeastern Maryland.
Our primary activity is a monthly meeting (usually the second Monday of the month, excluding July and August), on a wide variety of relevant topics, e.g. equipment device seminars, regulatory issues of the field, roundtable discussions, etc. at locations ranging from hotel conference rooms, hospitals and manufacturer sites (e.g. recent trips to Olympus Corp in Columbia, MD, Air-Shields in Hatboro, PA, North American Drager in Telford, PA, Hewlett-Packard in Valley Forge, PA). The monthly meeting provides a forum to socialize with others in the field, discuss problems, and to network with those looking for positions and those hiring, excess equipment and those needing equipment, etc. Complimentary dinners are frequently served.
PAMIA also, when in demand, sponsors an excellent review course to prepare for ICC CBET Certification. This same course also has frequently been available at A.A.M.I. Conventions, which attests to the quality of the course and it's instructors.
The annual subsidized holiday party is a joyful, no-work session with spouses, etc. to enjoy ample food and a drawing for door prizes.
The group has an interactive capability through its webpage at http://www.pamia.org, which is frequently updated.
A comprehensive directory of current members is also available upon request, and published as a directory periodically.
Membership and participation in biomedical societies is recognized by the ICC in the certification renewal point system to maintain certification in good standing. Becoming a PAMIA Member gives you the recognition and affilliation you deserve as a healthcare professional.
If you aren't already a PAMIA Member, we welcome you to become part of the Philadelphia area's driving force in the advancement of the biomedical technology.
